My name is Teresa Mims. I believe that the Realtor/Client relationship is just that, a relationship. I need to know about you and your life situation so I can help you find the best solution to your real estate needs. And you need to know enough about me to be comfortable knowing that I have the skills and qualifications to do just that. So here’s a little about me:
My Life Before Real Estate
I was born and raised in North Carolina in a split and blended, close family with a sarcastic, dry sense of humor. We laugh a lot and love each other to our very core. Prior to finding my way into real estate, I enjoyed a 25+ year career as an IT Consultant and Trainer and ran my own business for 11 of those years. My specialty areas were graphics-based mapping applications and finding ways for organizations to work smarter and more efficiently. My IT career first brought me to King George in 1999 and I moved here full-time in 2001. Life in the corporate world afforded me the privilege of extensive travel across the U.S. and internationally. It was a hectic lifestyle, but I wouldn’t trade the experiences for anything. I saw the world, met incredibly interesting people and helped a few of them out along the way. I moved 11 times in 25 years (2 were corporate relocations), and bought and/or sold 9 homes, including a couple of “flips” and a couple of rentals. In 2006, my husband Kevin and I tackled the epic adventure of designing and building our dream home. Yes, we were the general contractors and did a lot of the work ourselves.
So, Why Does This Matter To My Clients?
Since earning my Realtor© license in 2008, I have used the skills and experiences from my pre-real estate life, augmented with specialized real estate training, to support my buyer and seller clients. Chances are, as a buyer or seller, I have been where you are and understand the challenges. As a trainer, I LOVE my first-time home buyers! There is so much to learn about preparing for, finding, buying and owning their first home, and I get to teach them all about it! Move-up clients have a different set of needs and wants, as do investors and those couples headed for retirement. I take great pleasure in getting to know each client’s situation as well as their wants and needs. I have developed specialized materials for my clients to guide them through the process and relieve some of the stress associated with buying and selling.
I call upon my background in IT and with graphics-based software to develop custom marketing materials for my sellers. Every home is different. My job is to highlight the unique features of each one, to tell the “story” of the home in a way that draws the attention of as many potential buyers as possible, and to spread that story across the world via the internet. Buyers can’t fall in love with my sellers’ homes if they can’t find them and then imagine themselves living in them, so marketing is crucial.
Thinking of Buying Or Selling?
If you’re considering buying or selling your home, I would consider it a privilege to sit down with you and discuss your specific situation, offer suggestions, and work with you to develop a plan to help you achieve your goals. Real estate is a team effort and I would love to be a part of yours.
