John Lee Memorial Pratt Park
Located near Historic Falmouth and adjacent to Chatham Manor, this park is home to Celebration Stage. This venue boasts 16+ acres of playable grass surface for a variety of sports, special events and activities. Looking for the perfect spot to play some frisbee golf? Pratt Park has an awesome disc golf trail as well as soccer, basketball, tennis and baseball fields. For the kiddos, thereās a playground, horseshoe pits, pavilions, restrooms, and ample parking.
Crow’s Nest Natural Area Preserve
Crow’s Nest is one of Virginiaās largest natural area preserves with 2872 acres of mature hardwoods and freshwater tidal marshes. As itās a natural area preserve, recreation is not the main focus here but adventurous hikers can still explore the high narrow ridgeline rising 160 feet above two tidally influenced creeks: Potomac and Accokeek. The peninsula is deeply dissected on both its northern and southern flanks by a series of deep ravines cutting into ancient coastal plain marine sediments and feeding tidal marshes along the bordering creeks. For those looking for an easier trail, Crow’s Nest also includes a shoreline birding/nature trail to viewpoints of Accokeek Creek as well as an ADA-accessible canoe/kayak launch facility for the Crowās Nest Water Trail.
Curtis Memorial Park
Curtis Memorial Park in Stafford is perfect for your more adventurous excursions! Itās a beautiful wooded park with the usual nature trails, picnic shelters, baseball diamond, playground, volleyball and tennis courts, but itās also got a SKATE PARK!! as well as an Olympic-size swimming pool and wading pool with water umbrella for children. Check out the 91-acre fishing lake and 18-hole public golf course while youāre there!
