My real estate career began with new construction & resales in the gated, luxury homes community of Fawn Lake; since then, I’ve become adept at assisting 1st time buyers & sellers, seasoned homeowners, & investors in achieving their diverse real estate goals.
A native of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, it was Mary Washington College (now UMW) that brought me to Fredericksburg over 35 years ago, 1st as a student & later returning to manage its alumni office. Following my service to MWC, I served 3 Virginia communities as an economic development professional (familiarizing myself with historic properties, adaptive reuse projects, & navigating local governments); and I later advocated for people with disabilities & barriers to employment through work both with Rappahannock Goodwill Industries & the (former) Virginia Dept of Rehabilitative Services.
This varied work experience has as its cornerstone SERVICE TO OTHERS, which is my hallmark today as I assist clients through the buying & selling process, transitioning in their lives – whether 1s time buyers or sellers, relocating military, right-sizing families, active adults, multigenerational families, or any number of other life-altering decisions clients face. I fancy myself a “residential matchmaker” because lifestyle matters, & helping people find their “just right” match, in a place where they can truly enjoy living, is key to any successful property or home search.
Along with my commitment to serving others in identifying & achieving their real estate goals, I also pride myself in direct communication, ensuring access & responsiveness, & in letting each client know there are never too many times to ask the same question; I see my role as providing transparency & explaining the process each step of the way.
And if I don’t know the answer, I’ll make every effort to find it or to identify the resource who does.
With my lender-partners offering expertise in everything from VA & renovation loans, to 1031 exchanges & the specialized HECM for Purchase® program, I continually seek ways to better serve my diverse client base.
Along those lines, I, too, continue my own specialized education & training – well beyond the basic continuing ed requirements – to ensure I have up-to-date information & am employing tools, techniques, & critical market research to better assist my clients.
Among my areas of specialization/certification are: military relocation, both buyer & seller representation, pricing strategies, & 2 areas that are of special help in aiding the growing boomer population: the FHA-backed HECM for Purchase® (62+ buyers) program, & National Assn of Homebuilders certification as an Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), identifying (or recommending modification for) “visitable” homes employing universal design, as may be required.
In 2020, in addition to ongoing animal rescue/adoption advocacy & support of TNR & spay/neuter programs, I’m proud to be introducing my participation in the Hometown Heroes Project (be sure to ask me about it!), sponsoring activities for Fredericksburg’s Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc (HFFI) – including the spring home & neighborhood tour of Fredericksburg’s first true subdivision, 1950s-built Normandy Village – & supporting the new Fredericksburg Nationals Baseball team as a Founding Member (offering my 2 seats for home games, behind the home team dugout, could be found among special closing gifts or Open House drawings). And perhaps my favorite sustained way of “giving back” to fellow MWC/UMW alumni is by participating in their buying/selling transactions in meaningful ways.
A long-time City of Fredericksburg resident, I’ve made my home for 26 of those years in Normandy Village, these days with my 2 dogs, Hannah & Biggs. Sometimes I exercise like I should, & might be found in Barre classes, paddle boarding on the scenic Rappahannock, or even inflating the tires so I can ride my bike! You’ll also find me out & about in & around historic Fredericksburg and the Region, enjoying many of the plethora of activities & events offered here!
