Coldwell Banker Elite Welcomes Anita Huseman

anita

Meet Anita

I was born and raised in Winchester, Virginia. After graduating from Shepherd University with an accounting degree, I settled in Frederick, Maryland and immediately went to work for a prominent DC real estate developer. My career with the company lasted nearly 29 years. I held various positions in the accounting group ending my tenure as the Controller of Real Estate Portfolio and Fund Accounting. My favorite part of my job was being exposed to sales, acquisitions and construction of properties from the financial perspective.

During that same time my greatest joy and purpose in life was raising my children, a son Joey and a daughter Jillian. I served as a Girl Scout leader for 6 years and a “Big Sister” with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization for 3 years.

When I began dating my husband 6 years ago, he introduced me to the Colonial Beach area where he owns a home. We loved coming to his house on the weekend to relax in the sun and enjoy the local venues. We made many good friends and found a common desire to participate in community growth and home renovations in the area. We recently purchased a “fixer upper” we believe has great potential and hope it’s the first of many such homes for us. Once renovated, this home will serve as a vacation rental.

My husband Scott is an accountant who owns and manages a residential property management business in Charles County, MD. In our spare time besides enjoying our children, we love to cook, watch HGTV, discover great restaurants, listen to bands in the sun in CB, wander around small towns and of course do home improvement projects.

Home sales and home renovation feel like a natural progression for me. I have always had an interest in real estate, design and construction. When I see an old or neglected home I am struck with a vision of what it could be. I look forward to helping my clients find the perfect home or weekend get-away in Colonial Beach.

Come for the History, Stay for the Art

Everybody knows about Fredericksburg’s historical significance, but it’s also home to a burgeoning art scene with a myriad of galleries, workshops, and independent artists! Just a hop, skip and a jump (okay, about an hour’s drive) from Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Fredericksburg may not be the first city that comes to mind when you’re looking for culture, but the diverse and quasi-underground art scene has been quietly gaining momentum for the past 10 years. Traditional galleries are just steps from experimental studios and quirky shops. Some local favorites are Ponshop, a trendy studio offering build-your-own-terrarium workshops and custom skateboards; Evolving Art Machine, a self-described underground studio and experimental music venue; and LibertyTown Arts, which offers classes and events all year round.

Local businesses in Historic Downtown Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg celebrates their vibrant artistic community on the first Friday of every month when galleries, restaurants, cafes, shops, and even workout studios open their doors to showcase local artists. In the warmer months, it’s not uncommon to see musicians on the street and a friendly crowd enjoying refreshments as they traipse from business to business downtown. One of the most popular events during the summer is Art Attack, where local artists create en plain air for a day. Tourists and residents alike meander through the streets of downtown, passing historic buildings and overflowing flowerboxes to admire the artists at work. Artists of all kinds are welcome to participate: painters, illustrators, sculptors, musicians, performers–as long as you can do it outside, you’re invited!

Street Art in Downtown Fredericksburg

In the fall, the streets of downtown Fredericksburg become a gallery during the Via Colori chalk street art festival! If it’s too cold to wander around downtown, there are plenty of opportunities to catch a play at the Riverside Theater Company or Stage Door Productions. If you’re more in the mood for a concert, live music of all genres is performed around the city at local restaurants. A great place to hear some up-and-coming local musicians is Art Mart, which hosts art exhibits, concerts, and poetry slams in their new gallery.

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the arts sans the five-hour trip to NYC, Fredericksburg is perfect for a weekend visit.  Famous for being historic and charming, there’s also enough culture here to keep everybody interested. Check in to a cute B&B, grab a coffee from one of our local roasters, and have a leisurely day exploring this little city.

Coldwell Banker Elite Welcomes Alex Grissom

alex grissom

Meet Alex

After growing up in Northern Virginia and graduating from Virginia Tech, my wife and I moved to the Fredericksburg area over thirty years ago. We moved from Northern Virginia as a young couple just starting out in our marriage and our careers. We were in search of a less expensive area and enough land to have a horse and plenty of dogs. We live on three acres in southern Stafford in an old renovated farmhouse. We raised our son in southern Stafford County and started an animal hospital in Caroline County where I worked as a practice manager for over twenty years.

When I was the manager of a small business, I prided myself with giving excellent customer service. I learned to work with my clients to meet their goals and stay within their budget and to be able to quickly and efficiently solve whatever problems that might arise. I work hard for my clients. I am ready and willing to help walk you through what at times can be the complicated process of buying or selling your home.

I spend a lot of time walking through the City of Fredericksburg admiring the gorgeous architecture and photographing the people and buildings in town. I really enjoy the history of the area and the friendly people that live here.

In my spare time I enjoy photography, walking, my dogs and road trips around Virginia.
Whether you are looking to sell your home or looking to buy your dream home, please contact me for all your real estate needs.

Coldwell Banker Elite Welcomes Penelope Wesely

penelope wesely

Meet Penelope

I was born in Washington, DC and have spent my life living in the Washington metropolitan area. I graduated from Georgetown Law and began working for a D.C. law firm. After many years in the legal profession I discovered that I have a true passion for real estate.

My legal career before becoming a realtor taught me not only about managing obstacles and details in a transaction, but also about being a strong advocate and advisor to my clients. I listen to their needs and provide them with sound advice and the highest level of service.

I am the proud mother of four children and three rescue dogs. We chose to raise our family in Stafford because of all that it offers. We can often be found exploring nature trails, swimming and at taekwondo practice. My commitment to my family is my motivation to work tirelessly for my clients and to teach my children the meaning of perseverance and integrity.

Whether I am working with a buyer or a seller, I am energized by connecting with people and guiding them smoothly through the transaction from beginning to end. I am proud to be a realtor, I simply love what I do.
